Hours of Work

We normally work 6 days per week dependent on good weather and crop growth. We usually start at 6.00am in the morning and finishing times, vary depending on the crops and demand.

The Working day is dictated by the Picking Manager and no harvesting will take place unless your Team Leader is present. In very hot weather, the hours actually worked can be altered by mutual agreement, although we will endeavor to give you advance notice of the hours that you will be required to work in a particular week.

Training is given at the start of employment and then most picking is on a piece rate basis, which means the more you pick, the more you can earn. All rates and conditions are in accordance with the agricultural wages board recommendations and minimum hourly rates.

The majority of work on our farm will be on a piece work basis, when weather plus state of the crop will play a part.
