As part of our commitment towards the Modern Slavery Act 2015, Littywood Farm Ltd takes a zero tolerance approach to slavery and human trafficking.

Voluntary slavery and human trafficking statement

We oppose slavery and human trafficking in all its forms. This statement sets out the steps we have taken to ensure that there is no slavery or human trafficking in our business or in our supply chains.  This statement sets out the steps we have taken in 2024 to understand potential modern slavery risks within our business structure and supply chain, and as well as the steps taken to eradicate these risks.

About us

We are a family-owned business working in the agricultural/horticulture sector.

Our annual turnover is under £36 million. Although we are not required to make a modern slavery statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act.2015, we are making this voluntary statement to show our commitment to ethical trading principles and to set out the steps we are taking to identify risks and tackle modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and in our supply chains.

Our commitment to ethical trading

We are committed to being open and transparent, acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.

Due diligence and risk assessment

To help identify and monitor the risk of slavery and human trafficking in our supply chain Littywood Farm Ltd commits to developing and adopting a proactive approach to prevent, respond to and remediate the risks of modern slavery, forced and debt-bonded labour, human trafficking and hidden exploitation within its workplaces.

Our due diligence processes include:

  • We adhere to the guidelines, legal and good practice recommendations from government and professional bodies. We display our policies, procedures, and any relevant information that supports this commitment. Where possible they will be translated to ensure clear understanding.
  • We are members of the Ethical Training Initiative (ETI) and complete a ‘Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit’ (SMETA) audit and our results are published on the ‘Supplier Ethical Data Exchange’ (SEDEX).
  • We employ staff under fair, ethical, and legal conditions (in compliance with the ETI base code).
  • We have a dedicated worker welfare team, trained to recognise and support any risks or concerns identified.
  • We conduct active checks via the GLA on our labour providers and complete an audit of their policies and procedures to ensure compliance with our internal policies.

Effectiveness in combating slavery and human trafficking

We evaluate and review how effective we have been at ensuring that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of our business
